This page explains how Étincelle Review uses cookies. We take the view that a consumer publication should be clear and specific about its own use of tracking technology. This notice is written in plain language.
What cookies we use
We use one cookie: a first-party technical cookie called etincelle_cookie_ack that stores a single value (the number 1) once you have dismissed the cookie notice at the bottom of the page. The cookie is set only when you click the "Understood" button, expires after twelve months, and contains no identifying information. Its only purpose is to prevent the notice from reappearing on each subsequent page view.
What cookies we do not use
We do not use analytics cookies, advertising cookies, social-media cookies, third-party cookies of any kind, tracking pixels, fingerprinting scripts, session-replay tools, or any other form of client-side behavioural tracking. We do not run Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, Hotjar, or any equivalent product. This is an editorial policy, not merely a technical decision.
Server-side logging
Our web server retains standard access logs for up to 30 days, as described in our privacy notice. This is not cookie-based tracking; it is the ordinary technical byproduct of running a website. Server logs are used for maintaining the site and identifying security issues, and are automatically deleted after 30 days.
Controlling cookies
Because we use only one strictly-necessary technical cookie and no tracking cookies, there is little to control. You can clear our cookie at any time through your browser's cookie-management settings. Doing so will not affect the site's functionality; the cookie notice will simply reappear on your next visit. Your browser also allows you to block all cookies from the site, which will not prevent the site from functioning but will cause the cookie notice to appear on every page.
Changes to this notice
This notice was last updated on 2025-11-14. If we ever add any additional cookies — which we have no current plans to do — we will update this page and reset the cookie notice before doing so.
