This privacy notice explains how Étincelle Review handles personal data. We take the view that a publication writing about consumer protection has an obligation to be clear and specific about its own handling of reader information. This notice is written in plain English rather than legal shorthand.
Who we are
Étincelle Review is a UK-based consumer publication accessible at etincelle-lr.com. For the purposes of the UK General Data Protection Regulation, the data controller is the editorial team, contactable at [email protected].
What data we collect
We collect very little. When you visit the site, our web server logs your IP address, the pages you request, the date and time, your browser type and referrer URL. This is standard web-server behaviour. We do not run analytics scripts, third-party cookies, advertising trackers, social-media pixels or any other client-side tracking. If you contact us by email, we retain the content of that correspondence for as long as necessary to respond to it.
What we do with it
Server logs are retained for a maximum of 30 days for the purpose of maintaining the site and identifying security issues, after which they are automatically deleted. We do not use logs for analytics or profiling. We do not build audience segments. We do not sell, share or exchange data with any third party for marketing purposes.
Cookies
We use one cookie: a first-party technical cookie that remembers whether you have dismissed the cookie notice at the bottom of the page. The cookie contains no identifying information. See our cookie policy for details.
Legal basis and your rights
The legal basis for processing your data as described above is our legitimate interest in providing a functioning website and responding to correspondence. You have the right to request access to any personal data we hold about you, to request its correction or deletion, to object to processing, to request restriction of processing, and to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. Given the minimal data we hold, most of these requests will resolve quickly.
International transfers
Our web hosting is located in the United Kingdom. Server logs do not leave the UK. Email correspondence sent to us is processed by our email provider under standard contractual clauses.
